Webster B, McQueen (1851-1936)

Webster B. McQueen oldest son of John and Mary McQueen was born February 22, 1851 near Steubinsville, Ohio and passed away at Oelwein, Iowa, May 1, 1936 at the age 85 years, 2 months and 9 days.

He came to Iowa on the 27th of March, 1872 and worked around Littleton and Fairbank until the City of Oelwein was started, where he spent the remainder of his life.

On October 29, 1874, he was united in marriage to Victoria Shippy who preceded him in death 3 years ago. To this union six children were born, 3 boys and 3 girls, the boys also preceded him in death. Those left to mourn his loss departure are his daughters, Mrs. E. F. Guye of Minneapolis, Mrs. J. L. Powers and Mrs. Harvey Pratt, one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Emma McQueen all of Oelwein, 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, three half brothers and many other relatives and friends to mourn his loss. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to which he was faithful until his death.

Although Mr. McQueen was almost blind, he was able to be around the house until last Sunday evening when he fell from him which he never recovered and the Lord saw fit to call him from this earth. He will be greatly missed by those who are left. May he rest in peace.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 3, 1936 at the L.D.
Church in charge of Elder George McFarlane. Interment at Woodlawn cemetery.
