MRS. H. J. (Ida Wenger) MORSE PETERS

Mrs. Ida Peters, the daughter of Christian and Caroline Wenger, was born Nov. 24, 1888, at the family farm south of Elgin and died Dec. 21, 1966, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in West Union at the age of 78 years.

Mrs. Peters attended the rural schools of her community in childhood and later Upper Iowa University. Her early adult years were spent teaching in the local rural schools. On October 29, 1913, she was united in marriage with Guy Morse of Elgin and their married years were spent farming in the Illyria Community.

In the early 1930's she moved to Cedar Rapids where she was employed as a sales lady for the Killian Co. for 35 years until the time of her retirement. In 1943 she was united in marriage with H. J. Peters of Cedar Rapids. Since Mr. Peters' death in 1946, she and her sister, Helen, have continued to live in Cedar Rapids until Mrs. Peters' failing health necessitated her entering the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in November of 1966.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her husband, H. J. Peters, one sister, Mrs. Henry McMillan (Rose) and five brothers, Alfred, Louis, John, Walter and Fred.

Survivors are Chris, Ed, Charles and Martin Wenger, Elgin, William Wenger, Volga, Henry Wenger, Cedar Rapids, Harry Wenger, West Union, and Mrs. Milton Morgan (Mary), Anamaria, Fla.

Mrs. Peters was baptized in childhood and was a member of the Illyria Community Church.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Lee Roy Collins at the Illyria Community Church Saturday, Dec. 24, at 10:00 a.m. Vocal music was provided by Fremont Ogle, accompanied by Mrs. Duane Strong at the organ.

Pallbearers were nephews, Henry and John McMillan, Lester Wenger, Stanley Wenger, Eugene Wenger and Will Wenger, Jr.

Burial was made in the Illyria Cemetery.
