Karen Helen Cole died Saturday, June 24, 2006 in her home after a long illness.

Karen was born August 7, 1943 in Oelwein, IA to Harold and Helen (Morrow) Peterman. She graduated from Oelwein High School in 1961. She was married to Colin Cole in San Diego, CA in 1963. After her children were grown, she worked for Baxter-Bentley in Irvine, CA, in the customer service department for 18 years. After moving to Canton, SD to be near her family, she worked for Framer's Supply Co. until she became ill.

Karen loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed cooking and crafting. Karen was especially fond of the good friends she made at Framer's Supply and throughout Canton.

Grateful for having shared her life is her husband, Colin Cole, Canton; children -- Kelly (Mike) Christensen, Canton, SD; Jerry Cole, Macon, GA; Kris (Perry) Ford, Yankton, SD; and Stephanie (Steve) Girisgen, Henderson, NV; five grandchildren -- Alex, Ryan, Megan, Abby and Jordan; sister -- Karol Hikes, EI Monte, CA; sister-in-law- Colette Cole, Long Beach, CA; along with several nephews, a niece, and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her father Harold, her mother Helen, and a brother Kenneth.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 29 at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Canton, SD with burial at Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton.

Family will greet visitors Wednesday, June 28 at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton, SD from 6 - 8:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. For an obituary and online registry visit www.consolingmemories.com.
