Mrs. ALBERT (Thelma Jeanette Lyngaas) TINDERHOLT 1924-1985

OSSIAN (Special): Thelma Jeanette Tinderholt, 61, died March 23 in Decorah, Iowa. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 26 at 2 p.m. at the Stavanger Lutheran Church, rural Ossian. Officiating clergyman was the Rev. Jack Peterson and organist was Mrs. Howard Knutson, and soloist was Richard Stensrud. Casket bearers were Leon Dibble, Leon Griebenow, Lowell Lyngass, Irvin Fosaaen, Richard Hendrickson and Lee Hendrickson. Interment was at Stavanger Cemetery, rural Ossian.

Thelma Tinderholt was born the daughter of the late Engebret and Anna (Olson) Lyngaas on Feb. 2, 1924 in rural Postville. She was baptized and confirmed in her faith at East Clermont Lutheran Church, rural Clermont. Thelma received her education by attending the Grand Meadow Twp. rural schools. She was a 1940 Clermont High School graduate and also attended Luther College.

On June 11, 1950, Thelma was married to Albert C. Tinderholt at East Clermont Lutheran Church. During the 34 years of their married life they made their home at Decorah, Terril, Greene and since November of 1983 at Ossian.

She was a member of Stavanger Lutheran Church and the A. L. C. W. For several years she taught elementary students in the rural schools of Military and Bloomfield Twp. in Winneshiek County. She also taught in the grade schools at Clermont and Greene, Ia.

Survivors include her husband Albert of rural Ossian; her sons Ronald of Lompoc, Calif., and Alan of Ames; two daughters Jayne (Mrs. Dennis) Wood of Grand Prairie, Texas and Grace Tinderholt of Ossian; and five grandsons, Eric, Gordon, Abraham, Benjamin and Evan.

Also surviving are three sisters, Gudron (Mrs. Clifford) Osmundson of Postville, Eleanor (Mrs. Vernon) Anderson and Mrs. Leona Griebenow, both of Clermont; and one brother Ewald Lyngaas of Clermont.

Preceding her in death were her parents Engebret in February of 1957 and Anna on June 4, 1947; a brother Helmer on December 12, 1977; and a sister on April 7, 1980.
