Fresno, California - Word has been received of the death of a former Oelwein resident, Wayne F. Kennedy, who died Jan 26, 2000, in Fresno.

He was born in Oelwein in 1914 and graduated from Oelwein High School. He attended Kemper Military School in Booneville Mo, and also attended Iowa State University at Ames. He served with the US Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II. Mr. Kennedy was a retired electrical inspector for the city of Fresno and was the son of Dr. Elizabeth Smith Kennedy, MD, a prominent Oelwein physician for more than 50 years.

Survivors include his wife, Lavon; one daughter and grandson; and one sister, Elizabeth Knuth of Long Island, NY.
