ARLINGTON (Special) - Ethel Ann Irish, 102,Medford, Ore., died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 1996, at Central Point, Ore. A memorial graveside service will be held in October at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Mesa, Ariz.
She was born Ethel Handy, May 20, 1894, in Bloomington, Wis. Two years later, her family moved to Iowa where she lived for 76 years. After graduating from Arlington High School in 1913, she worked in the Arlington post office. On Sept. 22, 1914, she married a dentist, Marion E. Irish, in Arlington. He died in 1982. In 1915, Dr. Irish moved his practice to Fort Dodge, where they lived until he retired and they moved to Mesa. Mrs. Irish was active in the Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and gave away many of her afghans. She moved to Medford in 1984, and lived with a daughter, Ruth Boothroyd for 10 years. In recent years, she lived at a foster care home in Sams Valley.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Boothroyd of Medford, and Sheila Rychnovsky of Livermore, Calif.; one son, Lynn of Portland, Ore.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandson.
The Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford, are in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made in her name to Sunshine Acres Children's Home, 3405 North Higley Road, Mesa, Ariz. 8421S.
