Guy Williams

Funeral services for Guy Williams were held Tuesday, July 21, 1987 at 11 a.m. at the Clermont Funeral Chapel in Clermont. The Rev. Donald Loots officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service, Postville was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in God's Acres Cemetery, Clermont.

Guy Tennyson Williams, son of Thomas and Stella Williams, was born March 23, 1896 at Pattonsberg, MO. He died Saturday, July 18 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville.

He was baptized and confirmed at the West Clermont Lutheran Church. His education was received in the rural schools near his home.

January 3, 1917 he was married to Malvina Agnes Sampson at Hugo, CO. The couple had 4 children. They farmed for several years in CO and came to the Clermont area in 1930 where they farmed until 1949. Guy drove a school bus for the Valley Community Schools until his retirement.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Malvina, who died April, 1986, 3 sons, Francis, Donald and Hubert, one sister, Edith Dayton, 4 brothers, Walter, Wiley, Forrest and Raymond.

He is survived by his daughter, Vera, and her husband, Page Wirkler, of Postville, a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Williams of Oelwein, 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

The soloist was his great granddaughter, Daphne Deering and the organist was Patricia Butikofer.

Casket Bearers; Rockie Williams, Kenny Williams, Gary Williams, Bill Williams, David Deering, Drew Deering.

Honorary Casket Bearers: Ronald Jarms, Richard Jarms, Harvey J. Jarms, Robert Deering, Rowland Hackmann and Daryl Sampson.
