WADENA - Funeral services for Evelyn H. Dwyer of Loveland, Colo., formerly of Wadena, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Volga, with the Rev. Paul Peters officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Wadena. Friends may call one hour before services at the church Tuesday. The Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Dwyer, 88, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at North Shore Manor, Loveland, after a brief illness.
She was born July 2,1909, in New Hampton, the daughter of Percy and Winnie (Johnson) Putney. She graduated from high school in Dubuque, took three years of nurse's training at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, and post graduate training at Polyclinic Hospital in New York City. A registered nurse, she worked in Dubuque and Chicago before moving to Santa Monica; Calif., where she worked at St. Johns Hospital for 23 years, advancing from staff nurse to evening supervisor. She was married to Don Donnatoni who preceded her in death in 1961. She married Matthew E. Dwyer on May 28, 1966 in Santa Monica. She was a member of St.John the Evangelist Catholic Church and enjoyed traveling in Europe.
Survivors include her husband, Matt of Loveland; and one niece, Linda Schilling of Loveland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; one sister, Mary Joan Schilling; and two brothers, Leland and Charles Putney.
