Brent Thomas, 18, of Fayette, died Friday, Feb 2. Services were Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 1 p.m. at North Fayette High School in West Union. Pastor Dan Driscoll officiated. Burial was in Fontana Cemetery, Hazelton. The casket bearers were Chris Kasel, Keagan Meyer, Jared Baker, Nick Jellings, Jeremy Smith, and Josh Carey. Honorary casket bearers included cousins Andrew Boehm, Caleb Baker, Bridget Thomas, Allysa Joseph, Abby Thomas, Jamie Benning, Kodi Khadivar, Kelsi McVey, Heather Thomas, Natalie Joseph, Allison Boehm, and Halle Thomas.
Brenton Taylor Thomas, son of Kevin and Kathy (Kimball) Thomas, was born Nov. 28, 1988 in Waterloo. He attended North Fayette Elementary and Middle Schools and currently was a senior at North Fayette High School.
During his high school years, Brent participated in football, choir, speech and drama, band, German Club, jazz choir, jazz band, and track. He received numerous awards in speech, drama, and music, including Dorian Festival and the Meister Singers.
Brent had been accepted to Wartburg College and had planned to enroll this fall. He enjoyed playing his guitar, video games, hanging out with friends, writing, music, and poetry.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Don Kimball.
Survivors include his parents, Kevin and Kathy Thomas of Fayette; his siblings, Brandon, Kaitlin and Samuel, all of Fayette; his grandparents, Mary Kimball of Fayette and Milton (Woody) and Kay Thomas of Wadena; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
