Webster, J. P., farmer, Section 9; PO Waucoma; born in Madison Co., New York in 1824, and left that State in 1841, settling in Cook Co., Illinois, where he resided until he came to this county in 1853 and settled on his present estate. Was the founder of the village of Waucoma, also the first settler in this vicinity, and the site of which was a portion of the estate he purchased from the government. Is a self-made man, and by his industry, generosity and perserverance, advanced the interests and growth of the villiage. Has farm of 160 acres remaining, valued at $40 per acre.

Note: Mr. Webster failed to mention that he had a wife, Sophia and son Charles (1880 census) ... may have been other children on earlier census records.
