Grotewold, Henry, farmer, Section 2; PO Clermont; owns 139 acres of land; was born in Bremen, Germany, April 14, 1837; came to Freeport, Illinois in 1851; returned to Germany in 1856 and in 1858, he came to Fayette County, Iowa where he has resided ever since. Married Salome Bartholomae March 31, 1860; she was born in Alsace, France, Jan. 16, 1840; they have eleven children --- Louis, Sophia, Gesine, William, George, Christian, Louise, Henry Jr., Salome, Charles and Frank. Mr. Grotewold is a member of the German Reformed Church; Mrs. G. belongs to the Lutheran Church.
