Lien, Evan E., of the firm of Lien & Thoma, general merchants, Elgin; born in Norway June 20, 1836; came to Clayton County, Iowa in 1857; engaged in farming until he came to Elgin, in 1872; since then he has been in present business. He is a Stockholder and Director in the Citizens’ Savings Bank, School Trustee & etc. He owns a farm of 223 acres in Marion township, Clayton County, Iowa. He married Carrie Olson March 8, 1866; she was born in Norway; they have six children; two died in infancy; the living are Wole E., Mile, Albert and Emma Julia. Mr. And Mrs. Lien are members of the Lutheran Church.
