Schmitt, John Peter, farmer, Section 16 (Auburn township); PO Old Mission; born in Germany in 1823. Married Eplin Francin; she was born in Germany in 1830; have six children --- Theodore, John, Theodore 2nd, Catherine, Christopher and Jacob; came to this county in 1870 and settled on his present estate, where he has since lived; has farm of 130 acres, valued at $25 per acre. Are members of St. Lucas Catholic Church.
