Sargent, William Sr., farmer, Section 8; PO Illyria; came to this county in 1854; born in 1805 in Holwell, England; was forty-eight days coming over. Politics, Democrat. Married Emma Young in 1831, born in England in 1806; has four living children --- John, Philip, William, Mary Salina. Had a brother who was in the English Grenadiers; served twenty-four years; was at the battle of New Orleans at the time Jackson whipped the English.
