Broadbent, George W., farmer, Section 32; PO Bethel; born in England in 1836. Married Alice Nottell in 1864; she was born in Warren Co., Pennsylvania in 1840; have one child -- Franklin H. Came to this county in 1855, and lived on the homestead until he enlisted in the 9th I. S. V. Co. F; participated in the battles of Pea Ridge, Savannah, Bentonville and was with Sherman on his march to the sea; served until the close of the war and was honorably discharged and mustered out at Clinton, Iowa. In 1876, he moved upon his present farm, which he rents; has 120 acres. Both are members of the M. E. Church.
