Clark, James, farmer, Section 34; PO Bethel; born in Oswego Co., New York in 1822. Married Francis C. Root in 1850; she was born in Oneida Co., New York in 1832; have four children living --- William O., Francis C., Lizzie G., and Mary R.; lost two children --- James E. and Helen A. First settled in Rock Co., Wisconsin in 1844, where he lived until he came to this county, in 1853 and settled on his present estate of 120 acres, valued at $30 per acre; is one of the early settlers in this town. Was Justice of the Peace two years, Township Trustee two years and Clerk of the Township, District School Director and otherwise prominently identified with the interests of the town and county.
