Harkins, Thomas, farmer, Section 33; PO Putnam; born in Will Co., Illinois in 1840; located in this county in 1859. Married Mrs. Mary Pitts (maiden name Owns) in 1872; she was born in Wyoming Co., New York in 1839; they have one son (adopted) -- Henry, born Sept. 9, 1875. She is a member Free Will Baptist Church; he is a Nationalist. Owns 120 acres of land, valued at $20 per acre.
