Doane, George Mason, farmer, Section 28; PO Elgin; owns house and three lots in Elgin; born in Winnebago Co., Illinois, Sept. 27, 1848; when he was about a year old, his parents moved to Spring Valley township, Greene Co., Wisconsin; came to Pleasant Valley, Fayette Co., Iowa in 1860. Mr. Doane married Marilla M. Parker June 29, 1869; she was born in Pennsylvania March 8, 1849; they have three children; one son, Morrell, died at the age of 15 months; the living are George M. born Aug. 1, 1870 and Mary G., born May 23, 1874.
