William R. Blake
Representative from Fayette county. Was born on a farm in Jo Daviess county, Ill., October 1, 1878, coming to Iowa early in 1900. He is a graduate of the Elizabeth High school, Danville Normal and Chicago Park Business college. He taught school for several terms and while in high school began to learn the printing trade during the vacation months. He had connections with several paper s in Illinois and Michigan before going to Delaware county, Iowa, where he did newspaper work until the summer of 1905 when he went to Clermont, Fayette county and started the publication of the "Enterprise" of which he is still editor and publisher. Married Miss Bessie B. Morgan in 1904 and has two children, William Burdette and Anna Lolita. Was councilman at Clermont one term and mayor for three terms; is a member of the Masonic, I.O.O.F. and Modern Woodman lodges. Was elected representative in 1920.
