William H. Scott
Senator from the Forty-fourth district composed of the counties of Chickasaw and Floyd. Was born October 4, 1883, on a farm in Fayette county, Iowa. His parents are Alexander and Margaret Scott, now living in West Union, Iowa. His education was secured in the rural schools of Fayette county, and graduated from the West Union High school in 1901. He spent three years in farming and teaching a country school. In the fall of 1904 he entered Upper Iowa university at Fayette, Iowa, and graduated from that institution in 1908. He spent five years as superintendent of public schools in North Dakota, at Willow City, Rugby, and Mott, resigning to enter Drake University Law school where he graduated in June, 1915. Immediately after graduation he opened a law office at Nashua, and was elected mayor of the town, re-elected two years later. In addition to his law practice Mr. Scott spends some time supervising a farm which he owns. He was married in 1909 to Ada E. Heckel, and they have one child, Everett Greig, born in 1918. He is a member of the Masonic lodge. Was elected senator in 1918.
