Swale, William, farmer, section 9 (Eden Township), P. O. Waucoma; born in Yorkshire, England, August 15, 1809; came to this country in 1842 and lived in Onondaga county, New York until 1846, when he again crossed the sea and returned the same year, residing in Waukesha, Dane and Columbia counties, Wisconsin until 1852, when he came to this county and purchased from the government an estate near West Union and settled with his family in 1853 and was one of the early pioneers of this town and county; settled on his present estate in 1875; has a residence and three lots, and thirty acres adjoining. Was School Director in Auburn township and is known throughout the county.
