Brooks, Henry, farmer, Section 7 (Fairfield township); PO Brush Creek; born in Canada Sept. 7, 1833; came to this county in Spring of 1856; has 400 acres of land, valued at $8,000. Politics, Greenbacker. He married Phoebe Corless; born in Branch Co., Mich., Dec. 29, 1846; four children living --- Levi C., born May 2, 1869; Fred H., born Oct. 16, 1870; Bennie H., born Jan. 6, 1873; George W., born March 27, 1877. Emigrated to Muscatine Co, Iowa, in 1838; lived there eighteen years, then came to Fayette Co. Mr. B. was one of the first settlers in the State of Iowa.
