Campbell, Allen, farmer, Section 24 (Fairfield township); PO Brush Creek; owns forty acres, valued at $2,000; born in Windham Co., Conn., Jan. 30, 1805; in 1817, he, with parents, came to Oneida Co., NY, where he saw the first shovelful of earth thrown from the Erie Canal on July 4, 1817. Married Susan Blood Oct. 2, 1825; she was born in Concord, Mass., March 11, 1810. Moved to Chautauqua Co., NY in 1830, where he remained until 1838, when he moved to Cattaraugus Co., NY, and in May, 1863, came to this county. His first wife died April 7, 1854. He married again, Caroline Wetmore, Nov. 10, 1856; she was born in Chautauqua Co., NY, Jan. 12, 1817. His children are Mary, born Jan. 25, 1828; Caroline M., born Sept. 7, 1829; Harvey W., born Sept. 25, 1831; James W., born Nov. 7, 1833; William H. H., born Aug. 31, 1837; Josephine, born Oct. 3, 1839; John D., born Feb 8, 1842; George L.. born July 4, 1849; Alpha, born Dec. 3, 1851; Helen, born Nov. 3, 1857 and Flora, born March 31, 1869. Democrat.
