Doane, George L., farmer, Section 22 (Fairfield township); PO Brush Creek; born in Worcester Co., Mass., April 30, 1825; in 1842 he went to Columbia Co., NY, where he married Sarah A. Bullock, Feb. 25, 1847; she was born in Columbia Co., NY, June 9, 1827; they moved to Oswego Co., NY in 1852, and in 1855 emigrated to Iowa and settled on his present farm, consisting of 100 acres worth $3,000. Charlotte, born Jan. 9, 1848; Frances, born Feb. 24, 1850; Lee L., born Feb. 24, 1854; Emma, born Aug. 9, 1857; Velma, born Aug. 10, 1859; Hattie, born Feb. 7, 1862; Carrie, born April 24, 1864 and Roy, born Sept. 3, 1866 are the names and births of their living children; one child deceased -- Kossouth, born Dec. 4, 1852, and died March 14, 1868.
