Hoover Brothers, dealers in general merchandise, Main Street; Brush Creek (Fairfield township). J. O. Hoover was born in Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania, June 8, 1847; emigrated to this county in 1864, where he married Alice Gates Feb. 1, 1870; she was born near Lowell, NY, Jan. 28, 1851. W. H. Hoover was born in Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania, July 14, 1872*; he emigrated to this county and started in the mercantile business in 1865. Married Susan A. Conney March 15, 1866; she was born in Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania, Oct. 14, 1841; George A., Jacob E. and William H. are the names of his children. They entered into partnership in the Fall of 1869; amount of stock carried, $4,000; W. H. Hoover owns personally 250 acres of land, valued at $8,000; they are both Republicans, and belong to the M. E. Church.
