Amelia Greene Maynard

Amelia Greene Maynard was born in Oswego County, New York on October 12, 1827. Her mother died when Amelia was five years old and she lived with her grandparents. When Amelia was 13 years old she came with her father to Belvidere, Illinois. In 1849 she married Henry Maynard and became the mother of his three small children. Mrs. Maynard had also been a member of the Baptist church until, she with her husband, joined the Presbyterian church in Maynard.

Mrs. Maynard died in Maynard on September 6, 1909 at the age of 81 years. She was also buried in the Long Grove Cemetery in Maynard.

Additonal Maynard Family Notes

Henry Maynard's sister, Caroline, wife of John Smith, died at Maynard in 1889.

Henry Maynard, Jr. built the cement block house on the West edge of Maynard, now owned by Loraine Albrecht (in 1973), in 1911. He died there in 1922. His sister, Emmer, lived there also until in her later years she went to Ione, Oregon to live with her niece.

George Maynard, son of Schuyler and Sara (Rich) Maynard lived with his parents in the home now the Letha Bunn home (1973). After the death of his parents he married Nellie Burlingame.
