Galvin, P., farmer, Section 27 (Fremont township); PO Maynard; born in County Clare, Ireland, Dec. 4, 1842; emigrated with his parents to this country when quite young; in 1858, in came to this State, and to this county in 1862. Married Bridget Loftus January 26, 1868; she was born in Cambria Co., Penn., March 5, 1849; John P., their only child, born Dec.16, 1868. A Democrat, Mr. Galvin has held offices of Road Supervisor and School Director. Owns 120 acres of land. Mr. Galvin is an old railroader; was superintendent of a construction gang on the Davenport & St. Paul R. R. at Fayette; he was also the foreman of the gang who graded the first two miles of the Burlington & Cedar Rapids Road.
