Funeral Services Held Monday for Mrs. L. A. McAffee
Mrs. Ella McAffee was found dead in her home Friday [June 15, 1934] afternoon by her son Herbert as he returned from work at 5:30 p.m. Mrs. McAffee had been ill for a number of years, more seriously the past few months. Her death was self inflicted the act believed caused by despondency over her failing health.
Mrs. McAffee has resided in Estherville since her marriage on March 27, 1907 to L. A. McAffee of this city. She was born at Ackley on Dec. 7, 1879, the daughter of Catherine and Michael Sessler. As a child of two years she moved with her parents to Canistota, S.D., and resided there until her marriage.
Surviving the passing of Mrs. McAffee are her husband, her mother, three sisters and two brothers.
Mrs. McAffee was a member of the German Lutheran church and Rev. Otis Lang, pastor of the local church of that denomination was in charge of the services which were held Monday afternoon at the Presbyterian church. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, June 19, 1934)

Funeral services for Mrs. L. A. McAffee, who passed away at her home in this city Friday, were held Monday at two o’clock at the home and two-thirty at the Presbyterian church. Rev. Lang of the German Lutheran church officiated.Mrs. McAffee, daughter of Michael and Catherine Sessler, was born December 7, 1879, at Ackley, Iowa. When she was two years old she went with her family to Canistota, S.D., where she grew to womanhood. On March 27, 1907, she was united in marriage to L. A. McAffee, and has made her home in Estherville since that time.
She is survived by her husband, two children, Marian and Herbert at home, her mother, three sisters and two brothers. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, June 20, 1934)
