Embar Stoery Lundwall, 77, died Sunday morning [July 25, 1971] at 8:31 at the Holy Family Hospital. She had been in failing health for some time.

Embar Lydia Ecklund was born April 13, 1894, at Aitkin, Minn., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Ecklund. She received her education in Aitkin Public Schools. Following graduation, she studied voice at the Saint Ansgar Conservatory of Music in St. Paul. On April 1, 1916, she graduated from the Ripley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minn. She remained at the hospital as Floor Supervisor for three months following her graduation.

On July 1, she moved to the newly-constructed Anderson Hospital in Estherville. In 1918 and 1919, she attended the State University of Iowa, and then returned to her employment at the Anderson Hospital in Estherville.

On Sept. 4, 1920, she was married to Anton Stoery at Aitkin, Minn. Mr. Stoery died Nov. 27, 1957. After their marriage, they returned to Estherville to make their home. On July 12, 1963, she was married to Arthur Lundwall at Estherville. Mr. Lundwall died Sept. 1, 1968.

Mrs. Lundwall was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Estherville, the Good Samaritan Auxiliary, the Emmet County Historical Society and the Rock Island Women's Club.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jess (Elizabeth Ren'ee) Heise of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; two sons, Samuel H. Stoery, Northbrook, Ill.; and Thomas A. Stoery, Neper, Ill.; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Parker, Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Marcel Furlotte, Sacramento, Calif; and two brothers. Simon Ecklund, Deerwood, Minn.; and Walter Ecklund, Broderick, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. G. O. St. Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, from 4 p.m. today until noon on Tuesday when the casket will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services.

Pallbearers include Leland McQuown, Joe Gabrielson, Norris Lee, Judson Bishop, Carol Hoganson and Clifford Clark.
