MRS. ANNA BERG DIES; RESIDENT GRUVER 30 YRS.

Gruver, Ia. Dec. 14--Mrs. Anna Berg, for over thirty years a resident of Gruver, passed away at the Coleman hospital Sunday night [Dec. 13, 1931] at 10:30. She had been there for four weeks taking treatments for a stomach trouble from which she had been a sufferer for many years. Mrs. Berg would have been 60 years old Christmas eve. Her son Selmer came Friday from Stoughton, Wis., to be at his mother's bedside. Her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Halvor Berg and daughter Olive of Cyrus, Minn., came Friday night. A brother John Johnson and three grandchildren also survive. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from the Ryan Lake Lutheran church, the Rev. Nordsletten preaching the sermon. Mrs. Berg was preceded in death by her husband and a son Albert. Burial will be made in the Swan Lake township cemetery. Mrs. Berg will be sadly missed by her many friends.

Obituary

Mrs. Anna Berg was born in Voss, Norway, Dec. 24, 1872. In June 1882, at the age of ten years, she came to America with her family. They settled in Emmet county near Swan Lake.

She was preceded in death by several members of the immediate family, including her parents, her husband and one son Her husband, Halvor S. Berg, died in 1901 in Norway, where he had gone for his health. A son Albert, died in 1908 as a result of an accident in a run-away with a grain binder.

The immediate relatives surviving are: one son Selmer Berg and family residing at Stoughton, Wis., a sister, Mrs. H. S. Berg living at Cyrus, Minn., and a brother J. L. Johnson, residing on the old farm near Swan Lake.

Since 1902 Mrs. Berg had been a resident of Gruver. After a serious illness lasting four and a half weeks she passed away at the Coleman hospital Sunday evening, Dec. 13, at the age of 59.

Funeral services were held at the Immanuel Lutheran church, Wednesday, Dec. 16 at 2 o'clock p.m. Rev. Peder Nordsletten officiated assisted by Rev. S. Strand of Wallingford. Six cousins of the deceased acted as pallbearers: Anon Aanonson, Paul Paulson, Peter Paulson, Simon Paulson, Louis Pederson and Halvor Peterson.
