A. Lough Pioneer Passes

Came to Emmet County In 1876; Was An Early Letter Carrier and Successful Farmer.

Arlando Lough, 75, died Monday morning at 6:30 at his home. Death was caused by pleurisy and glandular trouble. He has been ill for about two years.

Arlando Lough was born Feb. 8, 1867 in Jordan, Minn. In 1876 he came to Emmet county with his father and brother, Alvis.

He was united in marriage to Mary L. Peterson, October 8, 1896.

He was one of the firs mail carriers in Estherville and also one the first graduates of the Estherville High School, being a member of the class of 1891. After serving many years as a carrier he resigned and farmed northwest of town. Several years ago he retired from active work and moved into new home on North Tenth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters and one son, Clarence.

Mr. Lough is survived by his widow, one son, Ralph Lough of Estherville, and one granddaughter, Marilyn Lough.

Funeral services were held Wednesday with services from the house at 2:00 and 2:30 at the Church of Christ, with the Rev. Fred Sawyer officiating. Burial was in the East Side Cemetery.
