Leroy Hiles Dies Suddenly

Had undergone operation here--Services Today

Leroy C. (P) Hiles, well known farmer of the Estherville community died Saturday night at nine forty-five at a hospital at Rochester where he had been taken following an operation here that day for acute sinusitis. Cerebro spinal meningitis was a contributory cause. (d. April 30, 1932)

Mr. Hiles was but 42 years old. He was born on Sept 16, 1899 (1889) in Illinois, and came to Emmet County with his wife in 1920 and farmed in partnership with his brother, William, until seven years ago. There are also two other brothers surviving , J. A. Hiles of this community, and Harry (Perry) of Edwardsville, ILL., and five sisters, Anna (Lana) Hiles of Los Angeles, Calif., Marie Hiles of New York City, Mrs. George Sweetser of Mason City and Mrs. Frank Costa of Chinoo, Mont. Another brother (John) died a week ago in Illinois. Four minor children are left by the untimely passing of Mr. Hiles, John, Celia, Vivian and Jacob.

Funeral services are being held today at 2 o'clock at the farm home southeast (northeast) of Estherville and at two thirty at the Christian Church. Rev. A. L. Ragsdale of Eldora, former pastor of the church, will be in charge. Pall bearers are T. E. Anderson, Wm. West, Geo. Kirchner, Mike Woods, Warren Petersen and Willard Crim.
