Max Henningsen, 1874-1965

Max Henry Henningsen, 91, of Estherville, died at 8:50 yesterday evening at Holy Family Hospital. Cause of death was attributed to a cerebral hemorrhage and complications of old age.

He had been ill for about a week but had been confined since 1963 to the Lauritsen Nursing Home in Estherville.

Max Henry Henningsen was born to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Henningsen June 22, 1874, in Germany. He received his education in German schools and in 1891 moved to this country.

In 1905 he married Emma von Spreeshen in Clinton. Mr. Henningsen was employed in Clinton for a number of years before moving in 1914 to farm in the Dolliver area. He retired and moved to Estherville in 1953.

He was a member of the Lutheran church and was baptized in Germany.

He is survived by a son, Ray Henningsen of Estherville, and a daughter, Mrs. John Lester of Fairmont.

Preceding him in death were his wife; three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Nazareth Lutheran church in Armstrong. Rev. Carl G. Klein officiating. Burial will be in the Armstrong Grove cemetery.

Friends may call at the Slaba-Reese Funeral Home in Armstrong from Friday morning until Saturday noon, when the body will be taken to lie in state from 1 p.m. until time of services.
