ESTHERVILLE, Iowa -- Private family services for Helen Graves, 83, of Estherville will be held at a later date. [Mrs. Graves is buried in East Side Cemetery, Estherville.]

Graves died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Good Samaritan Center, Estherville. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, is in charge of arrangements.

Helen Sorem was born Aug. 11, 1917, in Chicago, Ill., daughter of Andrew and Kathryn (Harvey) Sorem. She graduated from Morris, Ill., High School. She married Myron "Mike" P. Graves on Nov. 15, 1939, in Davenport.They lived in Gruver and Spirit Lake. They owned and operated Graves Grain Company in Gruver, Huntington and Maple Hill. He died April 18, 1984.

She was a member of Gruver Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include: son, Paul Graves of Estherville; daughters, Elizabeth Sifrit and husband, Craig, of Milwaukee, Wis., and Pamela Tjelmeland and husband, Joel, of Springfield, Ill; seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one daughter.
