Mrs. Evans Passed Away
Lingering Illness Proves Fatal to Long-Time Local Resident

Funeral services were held at 9 o'clock this (Thursday) morning for Mrs. Archie Evans who passed away at her home at 302 Eighth avenue North, Tuesday morning following a lingering illness. The services were held at St. Patrick's church with the Rev. Father J. J. Keane in charge. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery.

Margaret Ann Foley was born March 25, 1866 in New York state. When she was a young girl she came to Northwest Iowa and has made her home here ever since.

In 1888 she was joined in marriage with Archie Evans at Emmetsburg. The couple resided in Emmetsburg for ten years when they moved to Estherville where Mr. Evans continued to follow his trade of carpentering. Mr. Evans passed away December 10, 1938.

Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Evans, two of them having preceded their parents in death. The surviving children are Mrs. Wallace Lynch of Estherville, William Evans of Dunnell, Minn., Miss Lucille Evans of Estherville, Mrs. Roy Bartleman of St. James, Minn., Mrs. Joe O'Brian of Emmetsburg, Joe Evans of Fairmont, Minn., John Evans of Cedar Rapids, Miss Kathryn Evans of Omaha, Neb., and Tom Evans of Knoxville, Iowa. There are also 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild surviving.

Mrs. Evans was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic church and took part in various services and organizations as long as her health permitted. Her family and her home were the center of her world and she was devoted to them. Mrs. Evans was a kindly neighbor and friend ever ready to help in time of need and she will be greatly missed by her family, neighbors and friends.
