Phyllis Kay Osborn, the daughter of Russel and Merle (Christensen) Kauffman was born on September 20, 1937, in Rolfe, Iowa. She died on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Homestead of Estherville at the age of 84 years.
Phyllis attended Seneca High School, graduating in 1955. She worked at Carroll County Services as the Human Services Coordinator and the Executive Director of the Area 12 Developmental Disabilities Council.
She married Roger Osborn in December of 1955 in Fenton, Iowa and to this union, two children were born, Debra and Craig. Roger passed away in 1980.
On December 6, 1986, Phyllis married Ronald Schroeder. The couple retired to Ingham Lake near Estherville.
In her free time, Phyllis enjoyed gardening, reading, and crafting.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Schroeder; children, Debra (Tracy Smith) Osborn, Craig (Kelly) Osborn, Matt (Lisa) Schroeder, and Marty (Kay) Schroeder; grandchildren, Olivia LaPlant, Avery LaPlant, Sam LaPlant, Andrew LaPlant, Andrew (Hannah) Osborn, Mackenzie Osborn, Madison Osborn, Evan (Rachel) Schroeder, Kara (Ryan) Evans, Amie Schroeder, Joel Schroeder, Rene Schroeder, Justen Schroeder, Brandy Schroeder, and Zack Brumbaugh; great-grandchildren, Paisley Osborn-Kinser, Elise Schroeder, Eli Schroeder, Esra Schroeder, Raelynn Schroeder and Hallee Brumbaugh; and her siblings, Delbert (Helen) Kauffman, Pam Kauffman, and Peg (Mike) Alig.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her first husband, Roger Leon Osborn, siblings, Gail (Cyndy) Kauffman and Lavelle (Larry) Swenson, a son, Mark Schroeder, a nephew, Jason Barslou and her parents, Russel and Merle Kauffman.
In lieu of flowers, Phyllis’ family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association.
A Celebration of Life gathering is planned for July, 2022.
