Cheryl Ann Meyerhoff (Martin) was born on September 17th, 1958 in Sioux City, Iowa. She was the oldest child of Vernon and Carolyn (Goldsberry) Martin. Cheryl attended Lincoln-Central High School in Gruver, Iowa. She was active in 4H, basketball, and band. In her senior year, Cheryl sold her prize-winning Hereford bull to pay for cosmetology school at La James College in Mason City, Iowa. She married Loran Ganzer shortly after and moved to Walcott, Iowa where they had three wonderful children.

When they later divorced, Cheryl moved back to the family farm and went back to school at Iowa Lakes Community College. Later, she would go on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Education with an emphasis in Special Education from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. She worked for several years in the Ames Community School District before moving on to more leisurely pursuits. In 2009, Cheryl married Robert “Bob” Meyerhoff and relocated to Colo, Iowa. Cheryl and Bob shared many happy years together before his passing in 2017. Cheryl remained in Colo to be close to her children.

Cheryl was “mom” to many of her children’s friends throughout the years. She was known for her sewing skills and was a talented seamstress. She also enjoyed cross-stitch and crocheting. She crocheted baby blankets for numerous friends and family over the years, even for people she’d never met. Cheryl was dedicated to her family, passionate about helping others, and enjoyed the simple things in life.

Left to honor Cheryl’s memory are her three children, Theresa (Daniel) Espinosa, Myndee (Keith) Horton, Kenny (Rose) Ganzer; 12 grandchildren; her two brothers, Kevin Martin, Dale (Florence) Martin; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bob.

The funeral service was held Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the United Methodist church in Estherville, Iowa, with interment at East Side Cemetery in Estherville.
