Jack Clifford Fredericksen 1933-2021

Jack Clifford Fredericksen, son of Clifford and Dorothy (Coulson) Fredericksen, was born on June 15, 1933 in Estherville, Iowa. He passed away on January 10, 2021 at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 87 years.

Jack attended Estherville Schools. He joined the Iowa National Guard in 1950 and was deployed to Germany during the Korean Conflict. He served in the 194th Field Artillery Battalion as a cannonner. He was honorably discharged in 1952.

Upon his return home he attended masonry school in Ames, Iowa. On July 30, 1953 he was united in marriage to Margie Bueltel at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville, where the couple made their home. Jack started his masonry career in Estherville with Fagre Construction, he later started Northwest Iowa Masonry Company with a fellow bricklayer. He built many schools, churches, and houses in Iowa and Minnesota. After leaving the masonry trade, he was the custodian and maintenance person at St. Patrick's Parish for 13 years.

Jack was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church for many years. He enjoyed gardening, beer making, and sailing. Jack especially loved his family, spending time and getting into mischief with his grandchildren. He also loved his special companion, a big chocolate lab named Noah. He was a Jack-of-all-trades, no puns intended, and was deeply passionate in everything that he did.

Jack is survived by his wife of 67 years Margie, his daughters Linda (Paul) Anderson of Estherville, Jane (Niels) Lundsgaard of Fox Point, Wisconsin, and Joan (Andy) Bristow of Coralville, Iowa; his grandchildren Neil (Brandi) Fredericksen of Estherville, David (Kristina) Anderson of Port Orchard Washington, Maggie Lundsgaard of Cherokee, Iowa, Kaj Lundsgaard of Raleigh, North Carolina, Katie Lundsgaard of San Francisco, California, Elise Bristow of Coralville, Iowa, and Olivia Bristow of Coralville.; and his great-grandchildren Baily and Adalynn Fredericksen, and Ryland and Barrett Anderson. He is also survived by his brother Larry (Lillian) Fredericksen of Ridgway, Colorado, and nephews Steve (Jamie) Fredericksen of Georgia, Dan (Lisa) Fredericksen of California and Erik (Natanja) Fredericksen, of Hawaii.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joyce Fredericksen, and his son David Fredericksen.

The funeral service was held Thursday, January 14, 2021 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville with interment at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Estherville.
