Desean Hoffman, age 16 of Estherville, passed away on November 7, 2020 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A walk thru visitation was held on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville, from 3PM to 7PM.

A family Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. The family mass was live-streamed on the St. Patrick's Religious Education Facebook page. A public gathering was held at Hoyt Luithly Football Field following the family service at 11:30 AM.

Desean Bryant Hoffman, son of Christopher and Ashley (Huntley) Hoffman, was born on July 18, 2004 in Omaha, NE. He passed away at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on November 7, 2020 from injuries sustained in an accident at the age of 16.

Sean was a junior at Estherville Lincoln Central High School. He was a member of the 2020 Class 2A State Qualifying Football Team, where he played as a defensive tackle. He also enjoyed playing for the ELC baseball team. Sean was a member of the 12 Mile Lakers; every year he looked forward to the Emmet County Fair. He was there from start to finish, showing his own pigs and cattle and helping the other 4-H members. Fishing, hunting, golfing, gaming with friends, and chicken quesadillas were things that brought him great joy.

Sean was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville. He enjoyed being around people, especially his family. He had a heart of gold and his family was his number one priority. He was a wonderful role model to his siblings and all of those around him. Sean was always eager to help the people around him, on the farm, with the family, or in the community. He has always been his dad’s right hand man, if something needed to be done Sean was there to do it. He spent the summer helping build a shed for his 4-H projects with Chris. He was eagerly helping with any projects that needed done for their new family home.

Sean brightened the lives of all who he touched. His genuine kindness was known by many. Sean worked hard and had so many wonderful things to offer the world. Not only did he work hard, but he also enjoyed having fun and was known to make many laugh by his sly humor. He was special and has impacted so many people in the short time he was here with us.

Sean is survived by his parents Chris and Ashley (Huntley) Hoffman, his siblings Emmalynn, Hayden, and Huckston, his grandpas Luvern Hoffman and Frank Huntley, and his great-grandparents Lambert Hoffman and June Janssen. He is also survived by his uncles and aunts Kyle (Michael Jans) Hoffman, Amy (Dean) Johnson, and Aaron (Tara) Huntley and many cousins.

Sean is preceded in death by his grandmas Vicky Huntley and Donna Hoffman, great-grandparents Marge Hoffman, Marvin Janssen, Ben & Edith Huntley, and Doris & Kenneth Reinhardt; and his aunt Amanda Huntley.
