Viola Luree Clabaugh 1934-2020

Viola Luree Clabaugh, daughter of Charles Henry and Susie (Claude) Clabaugh, was born on January 26, 1934 in Emmet County, Iowa. She passed away on October 27, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 86.

Vi attended school in the Maple Hill, Iowa and Dolliver, Iowa areas. She graduated from Dolliver High School in 1952. While in school, her favorite subject was shop class and her favorite sports were swimming, dancing, roller skating and basketball. Later in life, Vi enjoyed keeping busy with her needlepoint, her various collections and taking walks.

Vi attended the First Presbyterian Church in Estherville where she enjoyed playing the bells.

Vi loved spending time with family members, especially family reunions at Tuttle Lake and attending Halloween parties. She was always ready with a smile and filled with the need to be helpful to those around her. She was a beloved daughter, sister and aunt who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish Viola’s memory are her sister, Jeanette Syverson of Armstrong, Iowa; sisters-in-law Mary Clabaugh of Estherville and Janet Lee Catelli of McCloud,Oklahoma, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Neomi Linn and five brothers; Charles, Alton, Alvin, Donald and Clifford Clabaugh as well as other beloved family and friends.

The funeral service was held Monday, November 2, 2020 at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with burial at East Side Cemetery in Estherville.
