James (Jimbo) Douglas Holmgren, was born February 10, 1950 in Estherville, Iowa, the youngest of 4 children born to Rudolf and Opal (Bradshaw) Holmgren.

He passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Jim attended school in Estherville and graduated in 1969. Following high school, he attended Job Corp in Chadron, Nebraska and from there worked in the coal mines in South Dakota and for the railroad before returning to Iowa to work road construction and at Estherville Foods. In 1974 he married Beverly Oskerson. The couple welcomed Timothy in 1976 and Matthew in 1978.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Stan Roggow and Ernie Turnwall. He is survived by Beverly, his sons: Michael, Tim, Matt; stepson, Eric; and his grandchildren, Olivia and Aiden Holmgren.

Interment was at Union State Line Cemetery, Petersburg, Minnesota.
