Dale Edwin Signs passed away August 21, 2020 at his home in Sioux City, Iowa at the age of 91 years.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 27 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Estherville, Iowa.
Dale E. Signs was born on June 11, 1929 at home in Mingo, Iowa. He was the son of Ed and Estella (Klopping) Signs. Dale attended and graduated from Mingo High School. He then attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1951 he enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1953. On April 4, 1954 he was united in marriage to Lavine Boettcher in Newton, Iowa. In 1960 the couple moved to Estherville where Dale was a casualty claims adjuster for Farm Bureau Insurance until his retirement in 1988.
The couple remained in Estherville until May 2019, when they moved to Sioux City to be closer to their children. Dale was a 60-year member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Estherville. He enjoyed singing in the Many Voices Choir and 50 years in the church choir. Dale was an avid reader.
Dale is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lavine of Sioux City; his daughters: Luann (Mark) Brinkman of Omaha, Nebraska and Nancy (Joel) Jarmen of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; five grandchildren: Leah (Robert) Caldwell and Mary Brinkman, and Brandon (Kristen), Alex (Cassie) and Callie Jarmen, and three great grandchildren, Natalie, Josephine and Hugh.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Margorie Schlotfeldt.
