Mass Of Christian Burial Today For Shirley M. Mulroney Of Emmetsburg
A Mass of Christian Burial for Shirley M. Mulroney of Emmetsburg is 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 1, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. Con celebrants are the Rev. Clem Currans and the Rev. Dan Guenther. Burial is in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.
Honorary bearers are Ruth Clausen, Carol Glennon, Joyce Brown and Hugh Neary. Casket bearers are John Spies, Ben Haywood, Max Norvell, John Brown, Greg Brown and Dave Brown.
Shirley Mulroney, 83, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at her home in Emmetsburg. Shirley Margaret Mulroney was born Dec. 5, 1921, in Iowa City, the daughter of Robert and Ella Mulroney. She graduated from St. Ellen's Academy on June 2, 1935, and continued her education at the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minn. She received her Bachelor's of Science on June 7, 1943. Shirley worked as a dietician at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, retiring as head dietician in 1971. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Shirley was an avid
supporter of Emmetsburg Catholic School.
Shirley was a lifetime member of Palo Alto County Historical Society and the American Dietician Association. She was very active on the County Conservation Board and had donated 25 acres to Palo Alto County for the conservation of natural resources. Shirley enjoyed the time spent at Emmetsburg Catholic School with the many prayer partners and lasting friendships she had made.
Surviving are many cousins and loyal friends.
Shirley Mulroney was preceded in death by her mother, father and step-father, Walter Middleton.
