Serle Mitchell, the son of William and Lydia (Rediech) Mitchell was born November 8, 1936, in Armstrong, Iowa and departed this life on Monday, June 14, 2010, at the St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at the age of 73.

He received his education in the Armstrong schools.

On October 10, 1961, Serle was united in marriage to Karen Lauritsen in Petersburg, Minnesota. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Armstrong. He worked several years at Arts Way Manufacturing before becoming a self employed mechanic. Karen passed away April 5, 2001.

Serle was an avid reader, loved animals, dancing, cars and visiting and laughing with friends.

Left to cherish Serle's memory are his children, Kathy Larson and her husband, Rod of Marion, Iowa; Diane De Jong and her husband, Mike of Fairmont, Minnesota; Bill Mitchell of Armstrong; grandson, Garrett Skinner; sister, Geraldine Krebsbach of Jamestown, North Dakota.

He has been preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Theresa; wife, Karen and one brother, Darrell.
