A.A. Mitchell Rites Held at Armstrong
Funeral services were held at Armstrong Friday for A.A. Mitchell, 90, former resident of that town, who died in Des Moines, Sept. 27. He was residing with a daughter, Mrs. Agnes Wade in Des Moines at the time of his death. Mrs. Mitchell [Barbara Ann Japp Mitchell] had passed away in 1940.Mr. Mitchell was a native of Scotland and had lived in Armstrong since 1913.
Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell, namely: Mrs. Quello Sager, Blue Earth, Minn.; Mrs. Adaline Rickard, Britt, Iowa; Mrs. Nina Walsh, deceased; Mrs. Jack King, Vancouver, Wash.; Mrs. Wm. Cowlen, Springfield, Colo.; Wm. A. Mitchell, Kassan, Minn.; Charles A. Mitchell, deceased; Mrs. Geo. Williams, San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Leo Singmaster, Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Agnes Wade, Des Moines, Iowa. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, October 7, 1943)
Hold Funeral Service for Andrew Mitchell
Armstrong – Funeral of Andrew A. Mitchell, 90, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Agnes Wade, in Des Moines, were held in Armstrong Friday afternoon at the Methodist church in charge of the Rev. N.F. Grote, pastor.Mr. Mitchell was born in Brewster, Scotland, Oct. 3, 1852, and came to America in 1880. He married Barbara Ann Japp at Waukegan, Ill., Nov. 25, 1880. They resided at Greys Lake, Wis., for 5 years after their marriage, then moved to Algona.
They engaged in farming in Kossuth county until 1913 when they moved to Armstrong to make their home. Mrs. Mitchell died on Nov. 19, [18] 1940, and Mr. Mitchell continued his residence in Armstrong until October, 1942, when he went to Des Moines to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. Agnes Wade.

Mrs. Roy Ollom and Mr. and Mrs. Todd Rickard attended the funeral of Andrew Mitchell at Armstrong last Friday. He was the grandfather of Mrs. Ollum and Mr. Rickard. (Algona Upper Des Moines, Algona, IA, October 7, 1943)
