Estherville – Services for Mrs. Fred Krough, 77, will be held Tuesday, May 16th at the United Methodist Church in Estherville with the Rev. Tom Balm officiating. Burial will be in the Armstrong Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville on Monday from 4:00 until 9:00 p.m. Mrs. Krough died Friday, May 12, 1989 at her home in Estherville.Marjorie Vaneta Krough was born on December 2, 1911 to George and Dollie (Johnson) Speicher at Halfa in Emmet County, Iowa. She attended Swea City schools. On October 8, 1930 she married Fred Krough in Algona, Iowa. Fred and Marjorie farmed in Emmet County until 1964 when Fred went to work for Lindy Implement in Swea City. Eighteen months later the couple became managers of the Emmet County Farm, a position they held for thirteen years. They made their home in Estherville following their retirement. Marjorie was a member of the United Methodist Church and TOPS.
Survivors include her husband Fred of Estherville; two daughters: Mrs. Charles (Mary) Allen of Huntsville, Ala. and Mrs. Terry (Diane) Smith of Swea City; four sons: George J. Krough of Denver, Colo., Ronald F. Krough of Santa Anna, Calif., Roger L. Krough of Toulon, Ill. and Ralph D. Krough of Mankato, Minn.; two brothers: Albert Speicher of Banning, Ga. and Bob Robinson of Sangus, Calif.; twenty-eight grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, two sons, two brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 13, 1989)
