Armstrong – Services for Clifford Theodore Gangestad, 80, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Nazareth Lutheran Church with Pastor Don Sarff officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. He died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1985 at his home at Armstrong.Henry and Olson Funeral Home of Armstrong is in charge of arrangements.
He was born March 27, 1905 at Armstrong, the son of Samuel and Julia (Skye [Skeie]) Gangestad. He attended Halfa school. On July 27, 1945 he was united in marriage with Lorene [Lorine] Richmond Olson at East Chain, Minn. He lived for 53 years on the Gangestad home place at Halfa where he farmed for a number of years, and moved to Jack Creek 1962-1966, then to Seneca where he farmed until retiring in 1971. He moved to Armstrong in 1974 where he has continued to live. He was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Halfa School Board many years; 4-H leader for two years at Jack Creek.
Survivors include his wife Lorene; three sons: Mark, Vernal, Utah; Steve, Fenton and Myron, Cedar Rapids; four daughters: Mrs. Jerry (Charlene) Buchan, Ceylon, Minn.; Mrs. Thomas (Anita) Davis, Sherburn, Minn.; Mrs. Craig (Cecelia) Jensen, Lone Rock and Mrs. William (Jolene) Anderson, Mankato, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Harriet Edwards, Ceylon and Mrs. C.H. (Jeneva) Pruell, Fairmont, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter; one granddaughter; five sisters and four brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 23, 1985)
