Estherville – Services for Mrs. LeRoy (Katy Elizabeth) Merriott, 72, will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Balm officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Tuesday, April 12, 1988 at her home in Estherville.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

She was born October 15, 1915 at Estherville, the daughter of Harry and Bessie (Rossman) Hollenbeck. She received her education in the Estherville Schools. On April 4, 1933 she was united in marriage with LeRoy Merriott at Sioux Falls, S.D. She lived her entire life in the Estherville area, where she was employed by the J.C. Penny Store and the Estherville Medical Center until retiring in 1978.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church; Estherville Bustle Rustlers; served as treasurer for the Meals on Wheels for many years; a former Sunday School Teacher and Cub Scout Leader.

Survivors include her husband, LeRoy, Estherville; one son Thomas L. Merriott and wife Georgia, Arlington Heights, Ill. and a daughter, Drinda K. Brandt, Ft. Dodge; three grandchildren; one sister Mrs. Maurice (Doris) Boggess, Emmetsburg; sister-in-law Mrs. Richard (Pauline) Myers, Estherville; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 14, 1988)
