Armstrong – Services for Maurice M. [Milton] Dunkelberger, 87, Armstrong, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Armstrong, with the Rev. William Holmsted of the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Armstrong Grove Cemetery.Mr. Dunkelberger died Saturday [November 3, 1979] at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday until time of services.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Dunkelberger, he was born May 20, 1892, in Ida County and attended Sioux City grade schools.
He moved to Armstrong in 1950 and was married to Mae Whissemore Miller on Sept. 20, 1958, at Armstrong. He operated several businesses in Armstrong, including a restaurant, tank wagon and locker plant, before retiring. He was a member of the Moose Lodge.
Mr. Dunkelberger is survived by his wife, Mae, Armstrong; one son, Donald Dunkelberger, Reno, Nev.; two step-sons, Donald Miller, Baltimore, Md., and Harold Miller, Alameda, Calif.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Russell (Avalda) Gibson and Mrs. Maurice (Carla) Pingel, both of Ledyard; two grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; 11 step-great grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Dunkelberger, O’Neill, Neb.; and one sister, Mrs. Chris Monroe, Sullivan, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 5, 1979)
