Armstrong – Services for Mrs. George (Ruth) Cronk, 87, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church in Armstrong, with the Rev. C. Kent Wever officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery. She died Wednesday, July 20, 1983 at Holy Family Hospital.Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home in Armstrong after 3 p.m. Friday.
Ruth L. McBride was born Oct. 14, 1895 at Lyndyn [Lyndon], Ill., the daughter of Robert W. and Grace M. (Thompson) McBride. She attended school at Whiteside, Ill., Jolly and Swea City. In 1914 the family moved to a farm southeast of Armstrong. She was married to George Albert Cronk on Sept. 29, 1921 at Fairmont, Minn. After their marriage the couple worked for Standard Oil Co. where she was a bookkeeper. After her husband’s death she moved to Nashua to care for her father. She moved to Estherville then back to Armstrong where she remained til her death. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Armstrong.
Survivors include one son, George Cronk, Buffalo, Tex.; two daughters-in-law: Rose Ella Cronk, Armstrong and Mildred Cronk, Ringsted; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother; Clarence McBride, Hector, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Ralph and Burton; five brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 21, 1983)
